Cape Coral is preparing to file a request in Circuit Court to help it obtain records from its former utilities expansion project construction manager.

The city wants the records held by MWH Americas declared public records. The city wants them to complete an audit that looked into whether the city was properly billed for the project. Auditor Michael Kessler told the city in 2006 that he couldn’t complete the audit because MWH either didn’t provide the records he needed or heavily redacted what was provided.

Producing the records would expose personal information such as Social Security data for current and past MWH employees, according to vice president Meg Vanderlean.

Kessler gets definitive answers.
